Poorman’s Corner with Fishing Guide & TV Host Larry Hurley

Arkansas Outdoors Online is pleased to present “Poorman’s Corner” — a new fishing column featuring hints, tips and tricks from guide and TV show host Larry Hurley. Larry is the host of Another Day of Fishing, which airs statewide every Sunday morning from April through August on channel KARZ-42 (formerly My42.)

Poorman's Corner Fishing Guide Larry HurleyFirst of all let me introduce myself. I’m Larry Hurley and I’m a full-time fishing guide and host of the TV show, Another Day of Fishing, which starts its 3rd year on April 5th on channel My42.

I’ve been very fortunate to be able to make my living for 16 years doing the thing I love most — fishing and being outdoors. I average 300 days a year fishing across this great state of ours, and I hope to bring something new to the table each week to help you catch more fish the next time you’re out on the water.

Before we get started with today’s tip, I want all of us to remember why we fish in the first place. Everyone has his or her own reason — be it competition, enjoyment and relaxation, or the desire to become a professional someday. But whatever the reason, it’s up to all of us to do our part in taking care of local lakes and fisheries. If we abuse them, we’ll all end up losing something very special.

Now to the important stuff let’s talk fishing!

The bass are making their way from the deep water haunts of winter toward the shallow spawning areas.
